Today's blog is about posture. I remember someone asking Tiger what he thought the most important fundamental was. His response? "Posture." Proper posture allows your arms to swing freely and also enables your body to rotate at maximum speed. The general rule of thumb is that you should bend from the hips approximately 30-35 degrees. When you do this properly, the shoulders and knees are aligned directly over the insteps of your feet. This puts you in a solid position in good balance with your arms hanging softly and ready to swing the club back and through on the proper plane. Always remember that you must remain in this posture until well after impact. If you are moving up or down during the swing you will have to make compensation moves which will always result in inconsistency.

Hit The Golf ball further
Every golfer wants to hit the ball further. Well maybe not John Daly who would probably choose straighter. Hitting the ball further is a function of three factors: having a biomechanically sound swing, having at least an average amount of strength and flexibility and using a driver that is properly fit for your golf swing.
Let's start with the golf swing. Actually, let's start before the golf swing. What we do before we swing is 85% of golf. By that I mean how we grip the club, our posture, our alignment and our ball position. To mazimize clubhead speed we should grip the club primarily in the fingers to develop as much wrist hinge as possible. The "Vs" formed by the thumbs and forefingers on each hand should be parallel to each other and point somewhere between the chin and the right shoulder. Everyone of structured differently so the golfer should experiement with this to determine which hand placement enables the clubface to return to a square position at impact.
In my next blog I will talk about posture.
